About us

“Working together as a system to ensure that our maternity and neonatal services become even safer, more equitable, kinder, personalised and family friendly”

BOB LMNS is here to support maternity and neonatal service teams and service users across the BOB locality. The BOB area covers Berkshire West and the counties of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

We are a commissioning, transformation and quality oversight function. We also operate as the team which manages and leads across the maternity and neonatal ICS (integrated care system) as well as being a team under the CNO (Chief nursing officer) directorate of the BOB Integrated Care Board.

We aim to deliver the NHSE maternity and neonatal programme in the BOB locality as well as tailoring our priorities to address the specific needs of our population, working with a wide range of system partners to include service user and service user led organisations (such as the MNVP), trusts, VCSEs (Voluntary Community and Social Enterprises), local authority, clinicians, the neonatal ODN (operational development network), HEE (Health Education England), OHID (Office of Health Improvement and Disparities) and so on.

Our main aims:

  • To improve how we listen to service users and make them a critical part of the work that we do
  • Personalising care and support of maternity and neonatal services in line with national guidance and local needs
  • Improve the equality and equality of services for mothers and babies
  • Grow, retain and support our workforce
  • Develop and sustain a culture of safety, learning and support in line with national guidance
  • Utilise data to be able to make insights into the performance of our services and identifying where improvements can be made and areas of best practice can be shared
  • Harnessing and support our community assets to provide a wider array of support for our service users with particular focus on deprived communities and the global ethnic majority
